Jala & Yala

Jala is a  Melayu or Malay word means   fishing net denoted the Jala old location, the mountains surrounded its strategic land in the time of Sultanate of Patani Darussalam; look like the fishing net. Yala is the Thai form of writing and pronunciation of the same meaning.

Another story about the term and meaning of Jala  is 'Jalo' means tigre' or the black  line on  the body of tiger, the story said that  long time  ago there were  men whose hands colored like  tigre'come and satisfied with  this   fertile  land later built the city, people called this land a "city of Jalo". Kota Luar is  the palace wall remains  in this Kampong  Jala or Jalo or Yala village lies 17 kilometers to the west from the city of present day Yala province.The present day Muang Yala or Yala city location is called 'Nibong' or Oncosperma tigillaria Ridl./Palmae tree (villgage) , the place is denoted the abadon  of Nibong palm trees in this area and its vicinity.
